📚 In this article, you will learn how to shorten a link within Tikly.

What is a shortened link?

A shortened link is a condensed version of a long URL. Instead of sharing a long, complex web address, you use a short, easy-to-read link that redirects users to the original page.

For example:

  • Long URL:
    https://www.example.com/products/category/item?ref=campaign&utm_source=social

  • Shortened URL:
    tikly.me/item123

Shortened links are useful because they:

  • Look cleaner and more professional

  • Are easier to share on social media, SMS, or print

  • Can be tracked and managed from one place (inside Tikly)

Getting started

You can shorten links using Tikly on:

  • The web: www.tikly.me

  • The Tikly mobile app (download from your app store)

Make sure you are logged in to your Tikly account before proceeding.

Accessing the Link Shortener

  1. Open Tikly (web or app).

  2. Open the menu.

  3. Click or tap Shortened links.

This will take you to the section where you can create and manage your short links.

Creating a New Short Link

  1. In the Shortened links section, click the Short link button.

  • Alternatively, you can select an existing link from the list to edit it.

  1. After clicking Short link, a pop-up window will appear.

  2. In the pop-up, follow these steps:

    1. Give your link a name

  • Enter a name for your link.

  • This is the title or label that will appear in your Tikly dashboard and may also appear in the web browser tab, helping you recognize the link easily.

    2. Paste or type your long URL

  • In the URL field (placeholder), insert or type the long URL you want to shorten.

  • Make sure the URL is complete and valid (e.g., starts with http:// or https://).

    3. Select your preferred domain

Tikly provides the following default domains:

  • tikly.me

  • myonelink.pro

If you are on a paid plan (Pro, Premium, Enterprise, or Team), you can also:

  • Use your custom domain, such as:

    • acem.com

    • example.com

Note:
Custom domains are only available for paid users on Pro, Premium, Enterprise, and Team plans.
Free users and Starter plans cannot use custom domains.

Customizing Your Short Link

After selecting your domain, Tikly will generate a shortened link. You can then customize the link slug (the part after the /) if your plan allows it.

Examples:

  • Using Tikly domains:

  • tikly.me/abc

  • tikly.me/john-doe

  • myonelink.pro/abc

  • myonelink.pro/john-doe

  • Using a custom domain (paid plans only):

  • acem.com/abc

  • example.com/john-doe

If you prefer not to customize the slug, Tikly can generate it automatically, for example:

  • tikly.me/12345

  • tikly.me/1wx5bc

Important:

Link slug customization and custom domains are available only for paid users on Pro, Premium, Enterprise, and Team plans. Free users and Starter plans do not have access to these features and will use automatically generated slugs on Tikly’s default domains.

Once you are done, save or confirm your settings. Your link is now shortened and ready to share.
