In this article, you will learn how to create a QR code for a shortened link within Tikly.

Creating QR codes for your shortened links is easy with Tikly.

If you haven’t created a shortened link yet, start with this article first:

Once you have your shortened link ready, you can generate a QR code for it and customize its appearance. This QR code can be shared or downloaded and used on print materials, screens, or anywhere you need quick access to your link.

1. Open Tikly

You can create a QR code from both the web and the mobile app.

  • Web: Go to tikly.me and sign in to your account.

  • Mobile: Open the Tikly app on your Android or iOS device and sign in.

Make sure you are logged into the same account where your shortened link is saved.

2. Go to your shortened links

  1. Open the main menu:

  • On web: usually found in the sidebar or top navigation.

  • On mobile: tap the menu icon (often three horizontal lines or similar).

  1. Select Shortened links (or Links, depending on your interface).
This will display the list of links you have already shortened in Tikly.

3. Open the options for your link

  1. Find the shortened link you want to turn into a QR code.

  2. Open the options menu for that link:

  • Tap or click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of the link card or row.

  • The exact position or icon may vary slightly depending on your device and app version

  1. In the menu that appears, select QR code.

This will open a new page or screen where you can configure and customize your QR code.

4. Customize your QR code

On the QR code creation screen, you can adjust several settings:

4.1 Basic details

  • Name / Title

  • This is the label that will appear in your Tikly dashboard.

  • It may also be used as the URL title when the QR code is opened in a browser.

  • Choose a clear, descriptive name (for example, “Summer Campaign Landing Page” or “Event Registration QR”).

  • QR type / Project

  • Select the QR type or project category if available.

  • This helps you organize your QR codes within Tikly (for example, by campaign, client, or use case).

  • Selected URL

  • Confirm that the shortened link you want to use is selected.

  • If needed, you can choose a different shortened link from your list.

4.2 Design and style

Tikly allows you to customize the look of your QR code so it matches your brand or design needs:

  • Style & patterns

  • Choose from different QR styles or patterns (for example, rounded vs. square modules, different corner styles, etc., depending on your needs).

  • Colors

  • Set the foreground color (the QR code itself).

  • Optionally adjust the background color.

  • For best scanning results, keep a strong contrast between foreground and background (e.g., dark code on a light background).

  • Borders and margins

  • Adjust the border or margin around the QR code.

  • Keeping some clear space around the code helps scanners read it more reliably.

  • Logo or image

  • Upload your logo or another image to place in the center of the QR code.

  • Use a clear, high-contrast logo and avoid covering too much of the QR pattern to maintain scannability.

Review your QR code preview as you make changes to ensure it looks good and remains easy to scan.

5. Save and generate your QR code

After you finish customizing:

  1. Click or tap Save.

  2. Tikly will generate your QR code and save it to your account under the name/title you provided.

You should now see the final QR code preview and related options.

6. Share or download your QR code

Once your QR code is created, you can:

  • Share instantly

  • Use the built-in share options to send the QR code via:

    • Email

    • Messaging apps

    • Social media

    • Or copy a shareable link to the QR code image.

  • Download

  • Download the QR code image to your device.

  • Common formats include PNG, JPG, or SVG.

  • After downloading, you can:

    • Add it to flyers, posters, business cards, or presentations.

    • Display it on screens, websites, or digital signage.

Before using it widely, test the QR code with multiple devices to ensure it scans correctly and opens the intended shortened link.
